Launching a Fan-Powered eCommerce Experience for Loot Crate
March 10, 2021
Since its founding in 2012, Loot Crate has become the worldwide leader in fan subscription boxes. Loot Crate’s mission is to unite and inspire the world’s fandom through monthly themed crates, interactive experiences, and digital content. Loot Crate’s team knew that replatforming would provide scalability and create a better management experience. With this goal in mind, Loot Crate approached Zehner.
Loot Crate’s pursuit of scalability and ease led us to replatform their site to Shopify Plus. Shopify Plus’ eCommerce platform suited to Loot Crate’s business and offered the ability to integrate with Recurly, an enterprise-class subscription management platform. In addition to replatforming and optimizing Loot Crate’s subscription services, our team also rearchitected Loot Crate’s backend, added a middleware component, improved wayfinding, and optimized UX for a mobile-first experience.

Throughout the project, Zehner and Loot Crate developed a close partnership that led to Zehner taking on a leadership role within Loot Crate’s development team. The result is a cleaner and branded mobile interface that meets fans wherever they are.
