Announcing the Safe Place For Youth Beautification Project
September 9, 2020
We’re pleased to share that in March 2020, Zehner began work on the Safe Place For Youth Beautification Project. The project called for a series of 60 images that would decorate five bungalows dedicated to homeless youth at Pacific Sunset, a brand new shelter in Venice, California.
Safe Place for Youth (SPY) empowers homeless youth by providing immediate and lasting solutions to the homelessness crisis facing West Los Angeles. We were thrilled to lend our creativity and time to this project, especially amid the Coronavirus pandemic, which has contributed to rising homelessness in Los Angeles.
Our team of engineers, project managers, and creatives, worked remotely to bring SPY’s vision to life. Armed with the five bungalow’s natural-inspired themes, our team got to work bringing SPY’s vision of warm, inspiring art to life.

“Zehner’s beautiful art has made such a difference for the residents living in the bungalows. One resident said it brightens up the room and makes it feel like home.”
Cross-collaboration is at the heart of ZGood, and each member of our team brought their unique interests and artistic impulses to this project. Carl Welti, a Senior Project Manager, lent his photography while others, like Senior UI Engineer Justin Mathers, drew inspiration from modern art.

“I loved seeing each collection come together, and I hope the residents connect with our vision. It was such a privilege to be a part of this project and help support the incredible work that SPY does for our community.”
The Safe Place for Youth Beautification Project has resulted in a collection of art pieces that feel modern, united, and undeniably fresh. Rachel Stitch, SPY’s deputy director, said, “Zehner’s beautiful art has made such a difference for the residents living in the bungalows. One resident said it brightens up the room and makes it feel like home.”
Working with SPY is one of the highlights of ZGood, Zehner’s social impact initiative. ZGood has given back to humanitarian and environmental causes since 2004. We look forward to continuing to partner with SPY and other organizations in our community.
Each year SPY supports over 1,500 homeless youth. Find out how you can help here.
